Kane and Gilbert power PCHS in boys basketball win over Bangor Christian

GUILFORD– Cameron Kane and Bryce Gilbert combined for 43 points as the Piscataquis Community High School (PCHS) Pirates rolled to a 77-49 boys basketball win over Bangor Christian on Tuesday night.

Gilbert scored 12 of his 21 points in the first quarter as the Pirates jumped out to an 18-8 lead after the first quarter.  With Gilbert on the bench for much of the second quarter, PCHS was still able to maintain a double digit lead. Kane and Bryce’s younger brother Kobe Gilbert nailed big three point shots, while Wayne Haley scored four of his eight points in the second quarter.

Kane scored nine of his game high 22 points in the third quarter, as the Pirates outscored Bangor Christian 19-12 and took a 54-36 lead entering the final quarter. Damyan True scored six points in the third quarter.

True put in 12 points (all in the second half), Kobe Gilbert added seven points, Eben Cooley scored three points, while Adam Bagley and Fischer Cobb chipped in with two points each. Bryce Gilbert recorded eight rebounds and seven assists, while Kane had four rebounds and three steals. PCHS (5-2) will play at Bangor Christian on Saturday night.

Austin Keib scored 16 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead the Patriots.  Brady Reed scored 15 points, Christian Boone added eight points, while Gabriel Nason, Parker Shaw, and Parker DeRoche put in five, four, and one respectively. Bangor Christian (1-7) will host PVHS on Friday night.
