Lexi Ireland named Charles Inn female athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 246 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had eight Rowell’s Garage female athlete of the week nominations. Lexi Ireland averaged 25.3 points and 14 rebounds in leading the Penobscot Valley High School (PVHS) to three wins. Kayla Dube  (4)- (5-12-13), Arianna McKinnon (2) (5-31-14), Amy Hallett (2) (10-3-15), Ryley Buck (9-13-15), Jarrett Priest (4-30-16), Thomas Spencer (5-29-16), Leine McKechnie (5) (6-19-17), and
Jaeden Folster (5-28-17) as student/athletes from PVHS that have earned athlete of the week honors.

The Charles Inn female athlete of the week

Lexi Ireland- PVHS – Basketball- scored 31 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in 49-36 win over Penquis. Recorded 20 points, 13 rebounds, and eight steals in 30-14 win over Greenville. Scored 25 points and pulled down 15 rebounds in 53-29 win over Bangor Christian.

Runner up

Lauren Plissey- Hermon- Basketball- recorded 18 points, 15 rebounds, two assists, and one steal in 51-31 win over Oceanside. Recorded 17 points, 17 rebounds, and one steal in 53-41 loss to John Bapst. Had 22 points in 44-40 win over Oceanside.

Other nominations

Erin Speed- PCHS- Basketball- recorded 24 points, 12 rebounds, eight steals, and three assists in 51-22 win over Bangor Christian.

Emily Wheaton- Presque Isle- scored 22 points in 69-59 win over Caribou. Scored 13 points in 40-32 win over Orono.

Kolleen Bouchard- Houlton- basketball- recorded 30 points, nine rebounds, eight assists, and six blocks in 62-48 win over Calais.

Sydney Allen- Central- basketball- recorded 23 points, five assists, and three steals in 63-34 win over Mattanawcook.

Cassidy Lessner- Highview Christian- Basketball- scored 15 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in 35-33 win over Forest Hills.

Peyton Grant – Dexter – basketball- scored 28 points, including 5 three pointers in 48-32 win over Mattanawcook.
