Emily Wheaton named Charles Inn female athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 249 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had seven Rowell’s Garage female athlete of the week nominations. Emily Wheaton from Presque Isle high school edged out Kolleen Bouchard (Houlton) in the voting this week. Wheaton averaged 30 points in three games, including 39 in a Wildcats upset win over Hermon. Wheaton joins Chandler Guerrette (3-4-13),Hannah Graham (2) (1-17-15), Madison Michaud (10-15-17), and
Griffin  Guerrette (2) (1-21-18)as student/athletes from Presque Isle high school that have earned athlete of the week honors.

Emily Wheaton- Presque Isle- Basketball- scored 29 points in 53-33 win over Orono. Scored 39 points in 62-54 win over Hermon. Scored 21 points in 65-44 loss to Houlton.

Runner up

Kolleen Bouchard- Houlton Basketball- recorded 28 points, 17 rebounds, seven assists, and four blocks in 65-44 win over Presque Isle. Recorded 27 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and three steals in 55-48 win over Caribou. Recorded 19 points, 16 rebounds, and four blocks in 52-39 win over Central.

Other nominations

Erin Speed- PCHS- Basketball- recorded 25 points, eight steals, five rebounds, and three assists in 52-18 win over Valley. Had 11 points (11-15 FT), eight assists, four rebounds, and two steals in 46-40 win over Penquis.

Lexi Ireland- PVHS- Basketball- recorded 25 points and 11 rebounds in 50-34 win over Searsport. Scored 29 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in 57-46 win over Greenville. Scored 16 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in 40-32 loss to Dexter.

Jenna Dugal- Madawaska- basketball- had 28 points and 15 rebounds in 54-39 win over Ashland. Scored 14 points in 47-40 win over Central Aroostook.

Alivia Hunt- PCHS- Basketball- recorded 14 points, 13 rebounds, and three steals in 46-40 win over Penquis.

Sydney Fowles- Penquis- Basketball- recorded 13 points, 18 rebounds, three steals, and three blocks in 46-40 loss to PCHS.
