Maine women shutout UNH to move up the league standings

Lydia Murray had a goal and two assists Saturday afternoon to lead the Maine womens ice hockey team to a 3-0 shutout win over UNH at Alfond Arena in Orono.

Murrays game winner came at 1:47 of the opening period. Vendula Pribylova scored in the second to extend the lead, while Alyson Matteau added a late empty net goal in the third period to pace the Black Bears.

Maine was outshot 28-16, but Bears netminder Carly Jackson stopped all 28 to record the win. Ava Boutilier made 13 saves for UNH in the loss. UNH is now 13-11-7, 8-8-5 in Hockey East. Maine moves up to second place in Hockey East as they improve 17-9-4, 11-6-3.

Maine will face Providence on the road next Saturday and Sunday, with both games at 2 p.m. Providence sits one point behind Maine in the league standings with 24 points.
