Central rolls to win over PVHS setting up quarterfinal matchup with Stearns

CORINTH– The Central Red Devils started the game on a 11-2 run and rolled to a 46-23 win over Penobscot Valley High School (PVHS) in a class C girls Basketball preliminary round game played Tuesday night at Central high school.

The Howlers went on a 5-1 run to end the first quarter and cut the deficit to 12-7. Central outscored PVHS 15-3 in the second quarter to take a commanding 27-10 halftime lead.

Sydney Allen recorded 15 points, five assists, four rebounds, and three steals to lead the Red Devils. Emily Smith scored 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Abi Allen filled up the stat sheet with five points, eight steals, six rebounds, and three steals. Emilee Cohen chipped in with five points and five rebounds. Ali Shaw and Rachel Smith had four points each, while Alyse Campbell had one basket for two points. Central (17-2) will take on Stearns in a class C quarterfinal game at the Cross Insurance Center on Tuesday, February 20th at 7:05 PM.

Lexi Ireland recorded 17 points, 11 rebounds, two steals, and two blocks to lead the Howlers. Leine McKechnie added six points and six rebounds. Laney Harding added six rebounds and five assists. PVHS finishes the season with a record of 11-8.
