Gage Poulin named Roadrunner Taxi male athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 252 past athlete of the week winners. 

This week, we had nine Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Gage Poulin had a strong game on the mound and at the plate in helping the Central Red Devils win their first game of the season. Poulin joins Max McHugh (5) (1-13-13), Andrew Speed (2) (5-22-17), Jordn Smith (1-18-14), Libby Cook (12-6-15), Sydney Allen (3) (1-7-18), and Caleb Shaw (1-1-17) as student/athletes from Central high school that have earned athlete of the week honors.

Gage Poulin- Central- baseball- pitched a five hitter with 11 strikeouts and issued only one walk in 9-2 win over Greenville. Poulin also went 3-4 with the bat with three RBI and two runs scored.

Runner up

Noah White- Orono- baseball- pitched a one hitter with eight strikeouts in 1-0 win over Dexter.

Other nominations

Noah Missbrenner- Bangor- baseball- had two hits and two RBI plus got the pitching victory by pitching five innings and allowing only one run in 4-1 win over Brewer.

Jack Freeman- Oceanside- baseball- had three hits and three RBI, including a two run homer in 8-6 loss.

Jacob Bickford – Dexter – baseball – pitched a three hitter with 10 strikeouts in 1-0 loss to Orono.

Keegan Cottle- Schenck- baseball- the freshman pitched a one hitter with five strikeouts, allowing only one earned run in 15-2 win over Penquis.

Uriah Thongsphaphone- Oceanside- baseball- reached base five times, including two hits and scored four runs in 5-4 win over Medomak Valley in 9 innings.

Michael Dougherty- Oceanside- baseball- pitched 4.2 shutout innings of relief allowing just one hit to earn victory in 5-4 extra innings win over Medomak Valley.

Dean Grass- Bangor Christian- baseball- pitched a two hitter with 12 strikeouts in 2-0 win over. PVHS.
