Cameron Kane earns Roadrunner Taxi male athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 253 past athlete of the week winners. 

This week, we had four Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Cameron Kane pitched a no-hitter and recorded 20 strikeouts in a Piscataquis Community High School (PCHS) 2-1 victory over Penquis. Kane edged out last week’s AOW winner Gage Poulin from Central. Kane joins Alex Speed (4), Lindsey Morrill, Abby Burdin, Delani Bennett (2), Erin Speed (3),Bryce Gilbert (9), Jordynne Littlefield, and Dillion Drew as student/athletes from PCHS that have been named athlete of the week.

Cameron Kane- PCHS- baseball- pitched a no-hitter with 20 strikeouts in 2-1 win over Penquis.

Runner up

Gage Poulin- Central- baseball- had three hits, including two homers and seven RBI, three runs scored, including a grand slam in 15-12 win over Hermon. For the week, Poulin went 5-8 in two games with one walk, two stolen bases, two home runs, and seven RBI.

Other nominations

Stefan Simmons- George Stevens- pitched a four-hitter with 11 strikeouts in 3-0 win over Dexter.

Andrew Daigle- Stearns- baseball- pitched a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts in 12-2 win over Penquis.
