Jacob Bickford is named Roadrunner Taxi male athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 254 past athlete of the week winners. 

This week, we had five Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Jacob Bickford had a good week with his bat and his arm to help Dexter baseball win three games. The Tigers are currently on a six game winning streak. Bickford is the 16th student/athlete from Dexter high school to earn athlete of the week honors. He joins Jordyn Bell, David McKusick, Peyton Watson (3), Trevor Fogarty (2), Libby Kain (2), Katie Batron, Brayden Miller (2), Megan Peach (3), Hannah Dorman, Zachary White, Tyler Beem, Nathan Richards, Hayley Rossman (2), Matt Richards, and Peyton Grant.

Roadrunner Taxi male athlete of the week

Jacob Bickford- Dexter – baseball- went 3-3, including a double in 13-3 win over Penquis. Went 4-4 with three doubles and seven RBI in 18-1 win over PCHS. Allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits and five walks, while striking out 10 in 6.2 innings in 3-2 win over George Stevens.

Runner up

Grant Kidon- PVHS – baseball- had three hits, including a walk off two run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning in 7-6 win over Deer Isle-Stonington.

Other nominations

Gage Poulin- Central – baseball- pitched a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts and reached base five times in 13-2 win over Greenville.

Ethan Curtis- Foxcroft- baseball- had two hits and two RBI in 4-3 win over John Bapst.

Ben Powell- Searsport- baseball- had three hits, two RBI, two runs scored, and pitched a complete game to earn the win in 7-2 win over Bucksport.
