Sydney Allen earns fourth Charles Inn female athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 257 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had six Rowell’s Garage female athlete of the week nominations. Sydney Allen now holds three Central high school track & field records. Allen edged out Cymeria Robshaw from Penquis for her fourth athlete of the week honor.

The Charles Inn female athlete of the week

Sydney Allen – Central – Track & Field – At the conference championship (PVCs), Sydney came in 2nd in the 200m, 2nd in the 4x100m, 2nd in the 4x400m, and 3rd in the 100m (medaling in all four events). At the state championship, Sydney medaled in the 100m, came in 2nd in the 4x100m, and won the state championship in the 4x400m. Her relay team broke the Central High School record in both the 4x100m and the 4x400m events at the state meet. Sydney now holds three school records in track at Central High School.

Runner up

Cymeria Robshaw- Penquis- Track & Field – won the class C state championship in the long jump and triple jump. Finished third in the 100. 

Other nominations

Lindy Bezgembluk – Bangor- softball- hit a two run homer in 3-2 win over Hampden.

Lexi Reardon- Central- softball- had three doubles in 16-5 win over Penquis.

Katelin Saunders- Bucksport- softball- pitched a complete game one hitter with nine strikeouts plus had two hits in 15-0 win over Sumner.

Avery Herrick – Dexter – softball- pitched a five hitter with six strikeouts plus bad two hits, including a double and two RBI in 14-0 win over PCHS.
