Damon Warren named Roadrunner Taxi male athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 272 past athlete of the week winners. 

This week, we had nine Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Damon Warren set a state of Maine high school record by reaching 50 plus goals in a season. Warren is the first student/athlete from Sumner high school to earn athlete of the week honors.

Roadrunner Taxi male athlete of the week

Damon Warren – Sumner- Soccer- scored two goals, including the game winning goal with three seconds left in the second overtime in 3-2 quarterfinal win over Lee Academy. Warren now has 51 goals and is the first boys player ever to score 50 goals in a season.

Runner up

Trent Lick- Orono- Soccer – recorded a hat trick in 3-2 overtime win over George Stevens in class C quarterfinal game.

Other nominations

Jack Bourassa- Bangor – Soccer- scored game winning goal in overtime in 2-1 class A quarterfinal win over Edward Little.

Grant Kidon- PVHS- soccer- recorded a hat trick in 3-1 class D semifinal win over Woodland.
