Lauren Cook earns Charles Inn female athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 280 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had six Rowell’s Garage female athlete of the week nominations. Lauren Cook has helped the Calais girls basketball team get off to a great start to the season. She averaged 29 points in two Blue Devils wins this paper week. Cook joins Devin Hall (2) (1-20-13), Olivia Smith 6-15-14), and Maddy McVicar (2) (1-10-15) as student/athletes from Calais high school to earn athlete of the week honors.

The Charles Inn female athlete of the week

Lauren Cook- Calais – Basketball- had 31 points, five rebounds, and three steals, in 81-38 win over George Stevens. She had 27 points, five steals,and four rebounds in 83-38 win over Sumner.

Runner up

Emily Curtis- Woodland- Basketball- recorded 30 points, 16 rebounds, two steals, two blocked shots, and made two 3 pointers, in 69-51 loss to Narraguagus.

Other nominations

Sadie Garling- Waterville- Basketball- scored 18 points, including 4 three pointers in 42-36 win over Winslow. Scored 12 points in 54-41 win over Cony.

Rylee Eaton – Deer Isle-Stonington – Basketball- recorded 22 points, eight rebounds and five steals in 45-28 win over Greenville.

Hannah Chamberlain – MDI – Basketball- had 18 points, including 5 three pointers in 43-16 win over MDI. Had 17 points, including 3 three pointers in 67-36 win over Presque Isle.

Makenzie Beaudry- Foxcroft- Basketball- recorded 30 points, 15 rebounds, and four steals in 60-16 win over Washington Academy.
