Dexter starts quick in girls basketball win over Schenck

DEXTER– The Dexter Tigers girls basketball team started the game on a 17-0 run and rolled to a 42-25 win over Schenck on Friday night at Guiski gymnasium.

Peyton Grant scored 11 first quarter points as the Tigers held a 13-0 lead after the first eight minutes. Dexter also scored the first four points of the second quarter. The Wolverines outscored Dexter 13-6 the rest of the quarter to cut the deficit to 23-13.

The Tigers turned up the defense again in the third quarter, outscoring Schenck 9-0. Dexter turned the tables on a Wolverines team that defeated them 18 days ago.

Laura Cote scored six points for the Wolverines, while Julia Stanley and Abigail Gallagher had four each. Schenck (9-5) will host Bangor Christian on Saturday afternoon.

Grant scored a game high 16 points for the Tigers. She also made 2 three pointers and had four steals. Avery Herrick recorded 13 points, five rebounds, five steals, and four assists. Danielle Cummings added seven points, while Kaylee Deering had four points, three rebounds, and two assists. Dexter (11-3) will host PCHS on Wednesday night.
