Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 290 past athlete of the week winners.
This week, we had five Rowell’s Garage athlete of the week nominations. Leine McKechnie started the season with the bang, including getting 39 strikeouts in 15 innings in the circle. It is the 10th athlete of the week honor for McKechnie. She joins Kolleen Bouchard (Houlton) to be named AOW at least 10 times.
The Charles Inn female athlete of the week
- Leine McKechnie- PVHS – softball – pitched a perfect game with 13 strikeouts in 24-0 win over Lee. Pitched a two hitter with 13 strikeouts, including her 500th career strikeout in 21-1 win over Deer Isle-Stonington. Had 13 strikeouts in the circle and had four hits, seven RBI, including grand slam in 22-0 win over Bangor Christian.

- Lindsey McEachern -MDI – softball- pitched a complete game shutout with 14 strikeouts in 7-0 win over Caribou in first game of doubleheader. In game two she came in and pitched three innings for the save. For the day she went 5-7 with three walks and four stolen bases.

- Sydney Ames- Skowhegan- threw a two hitter in 7-0 win over Bangor.
- Makenzie Beaudry- Foxcroft – softball- had three hits and two RBI plus got the pitching win with complete game effort in 14-5 win over Hermon.
- Karis Dankert- Foxcroft – softball- had three hits, including two doubles and four RBI in 14-5 win over Hermon.
