Lanie Perry earns second straight Charles Inn female athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 292 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had six Rowell’s Garage female athlete of the week nominations. Lanie Perry allowed only three hits in two games and struck out 25 to earn her second consecutive athlete of the week honor. Perry edged out Chloe Jones to claim her fifth AOW overall.

  • Lanie Perry- Narraguagus- softball- pitched a three hitter with 13 strikeouts in 9-1 win over Sumner. Pitched a no hitter with 12 strikeouts in 12-0 win over Washington Academy.

Runner up

  • Chloe Jones- Oceanside- softball- threw her second no hitter of the season, striking out 12 in 6-0 win over Lincoln Academy.

Other nominations

  • Kenzie Dore- Brewer- softball- had four hits and five RBI in 14-0 win over Belfast. 
  • Cheyenne Beem- Dexter – softball- had three hits and five RBI in 21-0 win over Mattanawcook. Had three hits and two RBI in 17-1 win over Mattanawcook
  • Gabrielle Poulin- Central- softball- had four hits, including a homer and two RBI in 11-10 loss to Hermon.
  • Makenzie Beaudry- Foxcroft- softball- pitched a one hitter with eight strikeouts in 3-0 win over Dexter.
