Whang and Hamilton power Foxcroft boys soccer to win over Dexter in season opener

DEXTER– Michael Whang had four goals while Shadane Hamilton and Alexis Fidalgo each put in three goals to lead the Foxcroft Ponies boys soccer team to a 15-2 win over Dexter on Tuesday afternoon.

Isaac Drury got the scoring started for the Ponies just five minutes into the contest. Foxcroft continued to put on pressure racing out to a 10-1 halftime lead. The Ponies outshot Dexter 49-3, including 30-1 in the first half.

Whang put in three of his goals in the second half. Drury added a second half goal and had an assist. Fidalgo had two of his three goals in the first half. AJ Atkinson recorded one goal and two assists, Rico Ayala and Jacob Raynes each had one goal. Mikel Alvarez had one save on three shots for the Ponies. Foxcroft (1-0) will play their home opener against John Bapst on Thursday.

Nathan Richards had both goals while Brett Kusnierz recorded 24 saves on 49 shots for the Tigers. Dexter (0-2) will host Bucksport on Thursday.
