Alanha McCarron earns Charles Inn female athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 299 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had eight Rowell’s Garage female athlete of the week nominations. Alanha McCarron scored six goals in leading MCI girls soccer to a pair of wins this past week. McCarron joins Jonathan Santiago (3) (9-6-14), Nick Hubel (11-3-13), Austin Tolman (9-13-14), Gavin Dugas (10-25-14), Cassie Miller (2-1-15), Willie Moss (9-27-15), Addi Wiliams (10-25-15), Josh Buker (2) 11-13-16), Jillian Frost (9-11-16), Eli Bussell (11-20-16), Adam Bertrand (11-19-17), and Joe Curtis (4-22-19) as student/athletes from MCI that have earned athlete of the week honors.

  • Alanha McCarron – MCI – soccer- scored five first half goals in 11-0 win over Lawrence. Scored game winning goal in 2-1 win over Skowhegan.

  • Kassandra Gray- Dexter- field hockey- scored four goals in 7-0 win over Central. 

Other nominations

  • Ella Stone- Mt. Blue- field hockey- scored four goals in 5-1 win over Messalonskee.
  • Paige St. Pierre- Waterville – soccer- scored four goals and had two assists in 7-1 win over Nokomis. 
  • Lexi Ireland – PVHS- soccer – scored three goals in 4-0 win over PCHS.
  • Rylee Speed- Central- soccer- the freshman had one goal in 2-0 win over Mattanawcook, two goals in 5-0 win over Penquis, had one goal and two assists in 4-0 win over Bucksport.
  • Jillian Frost- MCI- field hockey- had three goals and one assist in 8-0 win over Erskine. Scored two goals in 3-1 win over Mt. View. 
  • Ainsley Ade- Foxcroft- soccer- had two goals and one assist in 4-1 win over Dexter. Had lee goal and one assist in 4-3 loss to John Bapst, had one assist in 1-1 tie against Caribou.
