Crusaders Defense Shuts Out Trojans in Big 11 Football Action

October 11, 2019

Bangor,ME- The John Bapst Crusaders (4-2) used strong defense and the ground game on offense to cruise to a 21-0 win over the MDI Trojans(1-5) Friday night at the Winkin Sports Complex at Husson University.

1st Quarter- Both teams struggled to find their footing on offense in the first half. John Bapst threatened with 10 minutes to go in the first quarter, driving into the red zone, but a fumble recovered by the Trojans ended the drive. With just a handful of minutes to go in the quarter, Senior Quarterback Wilson Higgins found fellow senior Rhett McDonald for a 12 yard touchdown to score first. The Crusaders Seven point would be the only points of the first half for either team.

2nd Quarter- Once again both teams struggled offensively in the second quarter. The Trojans drove into the red zone once in the half, but came up empty handed with a lost fumble. On the final drive of the quarter, the trojans started at the John Bapst 30 yard line, but failed to convert and turned the ball over on downs.

3rd and 4th Quarters- The Crusaders defense held firm in the second half as they only allowed the Trojans into the red zone once. The Crusaders would pick up the offense in the second half adding a passing score from Higgins to Quinn Mitchell and a rushing score from Colby Brown after a blocked punt to extend the score 21-0. The Crusaders defines would add one more take away intercepting Landsmen late in the game.
