Keegan Gentle earns fourth Roadrunner Taxi male athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 319 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had 14 Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Keegan Gentle averaged 24.7 points, 9.7 rebounds, and four assists in leading the Houlton Shires to three wins. It is the fourth athlete of the week honor for Gentle.

  • Keegan Gentle- Houlton– basketball-recorded 28 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and four steals in 78-57 win over Stearns. Recorded 22 points, 10 rebounds, seven steals, and four assists in 53-50 win over Central Aroostook. Recorded 24 points, nine rebounds, and sevensteals in 56-52 win over Washington Academy. 

Runner up

  • Colby Pomeroy – Waterville – basketball- Had 33 points and nine rebounds in 70-44 win over Lincoln Academy. Scored 21 points in 69-47 win over Waterville.

  • Trey Hutchinson- Bucksport- wrestling – the junior recorded 100tb career win. 
  • Jackson Weatherbee- Mattanawcook- basketball – scored 23 points (3 three pointers) in 55-53 win over Central 
  • Kaden Hannan-Schenck- basketball- had 23 points (5 three pointers) in 54-47 win over PVHS.
  • Caleb Crocker- Foxcroft- basketball- had 27 points in 64-47 win over Washington Academy. Scored 25 points (3 three pointers) in 64-59 loss to John Bapst. 
  • Nate Richards- Dexter basketball- recorded 16 points, five steals, four rebounds, and three assists in 62-37 win over PCHS. Recorded 22 points. six rebounds, and two assists in 50-32 win over Mattanawcook. 
  • Scotty Ferrie- Central- basketball- scored 25 points in 71-62 win over Penquis. Scored 15 points in 55-53 loss to Mattanawcook. 
  • Dakota Dearborn- Cony- basketball- scored 24 points in 91-59 win over Medomak Valley. Had 19 points (5 three pointers) in 81-76 loss to Hamdpen. 
  • Simon McCormick- Cony- basketball- scored 18 points in 91-59 win over Medomak Valley. Scored 34 points in 81-76 loss to Hamdpen. 
  • Bryce Lausier- Hamdpen – basketball- scored 22 points in 66-36 win over Lawrence. Scored 21 points in 81-76 win over Cony.
  • Thomas Henaghen- Hampden- basketball- scored 27 points in 81-76 win over Cony. 
  • Isaac Varney- Hermon– basketball- recorded 15 points (10 in second half), 11 rebounds, and three blocks, including his 1000 career point in 46-42 win over Caribou. 
  • Parker DePrey- Caribou basketball– recorded 18 points, 10 rebounds, and three steals in 46-42 loss to Hermon.
