Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 319 past athlete of the week winners.
This week we had five Rowells Garage female athlete of the week nominations. Lexi Ireland became the second leader scorer in Penobscot Valley High School school history. Ireland also grabbed a career high 19 rebounds in a Howlers win over Searsport. Ireland joins Kolleen Bouchard (Houlton), Leine McKechnie (PVHS), Bryce Gilbert (PCHS), and Justin Thompson (Schenck) as student/athletes with at least nine athlete of the week honors. Bouchard is a 19 time winner, McKechnie a 13 time winner.

- Lexi Ireland- PVHS- basketball- recorded 28 points (becomes second leading scorer all time at PVHS), career high 19 rebounds, six assists, and five steals in 66-25 win over Searsport.
Runner up
- Kaci Alley- Narraguagus- basketball– had 15 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists in 44-41 win over Woodland. Recorded 21 points, 12 rebounds, and two assists in 81-17 win over Machias.
Other nominations
- Peyton Grant – Dexter – basketball- scored 14 points (2 three pointers) in 33-28 win over Schenck.
- Elizabeth Kinney- Dexter – basketball- recorded 12 points, five rebounds, four steals, and two assists in 33-28 win over Schenck.
- Kya Cook- Foxcroft- basketball- scored 20 points (4 three pointers) in 59-47 win over Washington Academy.
