Makenzie Alley earns female athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 328 past athlete of the week winners.

This week we had 11 Rowells Garage female athlete of the week nominations. Makenzie Alley averaged 26 points, 13 rebounds, and 5.5 steals in leading Searsport to two wins. Alley also scored her 1000 career point in a Vikings win over Sumner. Alley edged out Peyton Grant (Dexter) and Izzy Allen (Central) to earn her second athlete of the week honor. Alley also was named athlete of the week on February 3rd, 2020.

Female athlete of the week

February 15th–20th

  • Makenzie Alley- Searsport- basketball- had 27 points, 12 rebounds, and six steals including 1000 career point in 52-28 win over Sumner. Had 25 points, 14 rebounds, and five steals in 41-32 win over Bucksport.

Runner up

  • Peyton Grant- Dexter – basketball- recorded 42 points (6 three pointers), four assists, three rebounds, three steals, and one block in 65-31 win over Foxcroft.

Other nominations

  • Izzy Allen- Central – basketball- the freshman recorded a high school career 27 points and added seven steals and six rebounds in around 16 minutes in 50-19 win over Bangor Christian. Had 19 points (all in second half) in 40-39 win over Orono
  • Luna Perry St Peter – Deer Isle Stonington – Basketball- Had 20 points, four rebounds, two blocks, two steal,  and one assist in 62-25 win over Bucksport. Had 25 points, six rebounds, and one assist in 92-48 win over Machias.
  • Audrey Mackie- Oceanside- basketball- scored 27 points in 47-27 win over Mt. View.
  • Olivia Henderson- Houlton- basketball- had 23 points in 54-42 win over Fort Fairfield.
  • Rylee Eaton – Deer Isle Stonington basketball- recorded 22 points, nine rebounds, eight assists, seven steals, and three blocks in 78-27 win over Sumner. Had 25 points, nine rebounds, eight assists three three steals in 92-48 win over Machias.
  • Kaylee Morey – Deer Isle Stonington- basketball- had 21 points, seven assists, and seven steals in 78-27 win over Sumner. Recorded 16 Points, eight assists, four steals, and two rebounds in 92-48 win over Machias.
  • Mia Henderson- Houlton- basketball- had 17 points and 12 rebounds in 45-36 win over Caribou.
  • Lucy Kilton – Washington Academy – basketball- had 18 points in 45-37 win over Brewer.
  • Raeanah Reynolds- Washington Academy- Had 11 points in 45-37 win over Brewer. Had 17 points in 61-39 win over Sumner.
