Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. If you want to sponsor the female or male athlete of the week email Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. Use that same email to send your nominations in during the week. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 334 past athlete of the week winners.
This week, we had seven Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Hunter Curtis fired a no hitter in leading Ellsworth to a win over Hermon. Curtis joins Nick Bagley (12-6-14), Javon Williams (9-9-18), and Matt Burnett (2) (6-20-19) as student/athletes from Ellsworth high school that have been named athlete of week.
Male athlete of the week May 3rd- May 8th
- Hunter Curtis- Ellsworth- baseball- threw a no hitter in 9-1 win over Hermon.
Runner up
- Logan Stanley- Bucksport- baseball- had four hits, including a double and triple in 7-6 win over Ellsworth.
Other nominations
- Jesse Stanley- Schenck- baseball- had three hits and three RBI in 13-8 win over Greenville.
- Jackson Quinn- Skowhegan- baseball- had a five inning no hitter, striking out five in 12-1 win over Nokomis.
- Ty Giberson- Bucksport- baseball- pitched a four hitter with 12 strikeouts in 8-0 win over Oceanside.
- Will Kusnierz- Dexter – baseball- allowed five runs (one earned) on seven hits. He didn’t issue any walks and struck out six in 6-5 win over MCI
- Nathan Fernald- Dexter – baseball- reached base three times and got the walk-off hit that scored two in 6-5 win over MCI.
