Trey Mancini hit a go ahead solo homerun in the sixth inning on Monday night, as the Baltimore Orioles salvaged the final game of a four game series with a 4-1 win over the Boston Red Sox at Camden Yards in Baltimore.

Ryan Mountcastle put Baltimore up 1-0 in the second inning with a solo homerun to left field. Boston (22-14) got their only run of the night when Rafael Devers hit a sacrifice fly to score JD Martinez in the fourth. After Mancini put the Birds up 2-1 with the homer in the sixth, the hosts added on when Mancini singled in Cedric Mullins who had led off the eighth with a triple. The scoring was finished off when Freddy Galvis scored Austin Hays with a sacrifice fly. The win for the Orioles ends a six game losing streak to the Red Sox, and snaps the four game win streak for Boston. Baltimore is now 16-19.

Martin Perez got a no-decision on the mound allowing one run on four hits in 5.0 innings, while Matt Andriese (1-2) was charged with the loss for Boston allowing three runs on four hits in 2+. Martinez had two of the four hits on the night for the Sox. Tanner Scott (2-2) got the win in relief of Jorge Lopez for Baltimore. Travis Lakins and Paul Fry both had holds, and Cesar Valdez earned his eighth save. Pedro Severino had three hits, while Mancini and Mountcastle had two each. Boston begins a six game homestand at Fenway Park on Tuesday night when they welcome in the Oakland Athletics. Nathan Eovaldi will pitch for the Sox, and Chris Bassitt will go for the A’s in the first of that three game series.
