Celtics clinch #2 seed, Red Sox salvage final game in New York

At the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee on Sunday night, the Boston Celtics wrapped up the #2 seed in the Eastern Conference by crushing the Memphis Grizzlies in the regular season finale 139-110.

Jayson Tatum led the way with 31 points, nine rebounds, and three assists in 26 minutes. Boston (51-31) will face the winner of the play-in game between Brooklyn and Cleveland in a first round playoff series beginning Sunday at TD Garden.

 

At Yankee Stadium in New York, Bobby Dalbec hit a tiebreaking and game winning solo homerun in the sixth inning as the Boston Red Sox got their first win of 2022 by avoiding a three game sweep at the hands of the New York Yankees with a 4-3 win.

The Boston bullpen combined for 5.2 innings of scoreless relief, with Jake Diekman striking out the side in the ninth for his first save. Kutter Crawford (1-1) picked up the win. The Red Sox (1-2) begin a three game series in Detroit against the Tigers at 5:10 p.m. on Monday evening.
