Husson sweeps NAC baseball doubleheader from Thomas College

April 21, 2022

After only playing two conference games so far this spring, the Husson Eagles got back into NAC play with a doubleheader against Thomas College at the Winkin Complex on Harold Alfond Diamond in Bangor on Thursday. The Eagles would complete a sweep with 3-0 and 13-3 wins.

GAME 1 (7 innings)- Husson would pick up the shutout thanks to 5.0 no-hit innings from starting pitcher Cam Graham. Ethan Stoddard singled in Joshua Scott in the first for all the runs the Eagles needed. They added on in the fifth when Scott singled in a run and Jackson Curtis scored on a Thomas error. Ty Knowlton had two hits for Husson. Graham (3-3) allowed three hits with one walk and five strikeouts in 5.1 innings to notch the win. Zach Nickerson (1-2) was the tough luck loser on the mound for the Terriers allowing one run (none earned) on two hits in 4.0 innings.

GAME 2 (9 innings)- Thomas had early leads of 1-0 and 3-2, but a wild pitch that scored Scott in a seven run third inning for Husson gave the Eagles the lead for good. Akira Warren, Curtis, Kobe Rogerson, Stoddard, Tanner Evans, Knowlton, and Tyler Parke all had two hits each as part of a 17 hit attack. Evans had three RBI and Warren had two. Harrison Lendrum (2-0) earned the pitching victory allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits with one walk and eight strikeouts in 7.0 innings. Brad Smith had two hits for Thomas College, and Isaiah Williams (0-3) was tagged in the loss on the hill allowing five earned runs on five hits in 2.2 innings. The Terriers fall to 10-21 overall, 5-5 in conference play.

Husson is now 11-15, 3-1 in the NAC and will host the University of Maine-Presque Isle for conference doubleheaders both on Saturday and Sunday in Bangor.
