Jake Guty earns second male athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. If you want to sponsor the female or male athlete of the week email Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. Use that same email to send your nominations in during the week. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had five Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Jake Guty pitched a no hitter and a big week with the bat to help Bucksport baseball continue to roll. It is the second athlete of the week honor for Guty. He also won male AOW on (6-27-21),

April 24th-April 30th

  • Jake Guty- Bucksport- baseball- had three hits, three runs scored, and two RBI in 11-0 win over Central. Pitched a no hitter with three walks and 16 strikeouts in 8-0 win over Dexter.

Runner up

  • Ty Giberson- Bucksport- baseball- pitched a complete geme three bit shutout with 11 strikeouts and no walks plus had three hits, three runs scored and two RBI in 11-0 win over Central.

Other nominations

  • Jed Gilpatrick – Brewer – Baseball – went 4 for 4, with two singles and doubles, plus one RBI in 3-1 Loss to Camden Hills. Went 2-5 with a walk and three RBI in 5-3 win over Lewiston.
  •  Caleb DeSantis,- Schenck- baseball- had three triples, two runs scored, and two RBI in 18-11 win over PCHS.
  • Alvin Robshaw- Penquis- baseball- had a double, triple, and two RBI in 4-2 win over Schenck. Had five RBI in 17-12 win over Dexter.
