Ana Lang earns fifth female athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the past athlete of the week winners.

This week we had five Rowell’s Garage female athlete of the week nominations. Ana Lang struck out 44 in the circle in three games helping Searsport to a 2-1 week. It is the fifth athlete of the week honor for Lang.

 

May 8th-May 14th

  • Ana Lang- Searsport- softball – had 18 strikeouts with 0 walks plus had two hits, including a double and a walk in 10-2 win over Dexter. Struck out 11 in 3-1 loss to Mattanawcook. Struck out 15 and walked one plus had two singles, walk and one run scored in 3-1 win over Stearns.

Runner up

  • Lane Barron- Bangor – softball- pitched a two hitter, allowing one unearned run and striking out 10 while also reaching base twice and had one RBI in 4-1 win over Old Town.

Other nominations

  • Alexis Whitty- Central- softball- had three hits, three runs scored, and two RBI in 15-3 win over Foxcroft.
  • Kaitlyn Lord- Foxcroft- softball- had three doubles and five RBI in 9-1 win over Presque Isle. Had two doubles and two RBI in 8-7 loss to Presque Isle. Had a triple and two RBI in 15-3 loss to Central.
  • Jazmin Johnson- Lawrence- softball- pitched a one hitter with 15 strikeouts and didn’t issue a walk in 7-0 win over MCI. Pitched a five hitter with 13 strikeouts in 7-1 win over Waterville.
