May 20, 2022

BANGOR- Colton Trisch went the distance on the mound striking out 12 on Friday night, as the Bangor Rams took over the top spot in Class A North baseball with a 7-1 victory over the Oxford Hills Vikings at Mansfield Stadium.

Bangor jumped up 2-0 early in the bottom of the first inning. Trisch and Keegan Cyr both singled on the first pitch from Oxford Hills starting pitcher Kolby Brown. Matt Holmes laid down a sacrifice bunt, and Ryan Howard delivered an RBI sacrifice fly. Two straight walks loaded the bases, and then a third walk to Luke Misbrenner forced in Cyr. Meanwhile, Trisch was on top of his game allowing just one hit over the first six innings which was a leadoff single by Brown in the second. He struck out the side in the third and fifth innings. The Rams gave him the support he needed adding to their lead with three more runs in the fourth. With one out, Ben Caron singled. Caron would get to third base on a pair of wild pitches, and was driven in by Trisch who helped himself by lining an RBI single to centerfield. Cyr followed with another single, and Holmes was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Howard then got credit for a fielders choice RBI, and an Oxford Hills error on the same play allowed another run to score to make it 5-0 Bangor. Brayden Caron and Brady Hand ended the scoring for the hosts on the night with an RBI single and RBI sacrifice fly respectively in the sixth.

Trisch allowed just one walk and three hits in the complete game 7.0 inning effort, surrending one run in the seventh on a wild pitch. Cyr had three hits and scored three times in the victory, as Bangor improves to 11-1. Trisch added two hits to his fantastic night pitching, and Howard had two RBI. The Rams now take over that top spot in Class A North over Oxford Hills. Eli Soehren had a hit and scored the only run for the Vikings (10-2), while Andrew Merrill and Brown had one hit each. Brown took the loss on the hill allowing five runs (four earned) on nine hits with four walks and one strikeout in 4.2 innings. Both teams are back in action early next week, as Bangor is on the road at Camden Hills on Monday and Oxford Hills is at Gardiner Tuesday.
