DEXTER—- The Dexter Tigers girls soccer team scored five unanswered goals and cruised to a 6-1 win over Searsport on Wednesday afternoon.
Hannah Dorman gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead with 21:06 remaining in the first half. They would keep that lead until Karigen Coffin evened the score with 8:45 left in the first half.
Dexter controlled play from that point, including scoring two goals in a span of 1 minute and 26 seconds before the half. Jasmine Woodard gave the Tigers a lead they wouldn’t give back on an assist from Danielle Cummings with 6:08 remaining in the half. Ashley Reynolds made that a two goal lead just 1:26 later.
The shots and possession of the ball was pretty even for the first 32 minutes of the game. Dexter dominated the final 48 minutes of play.
Just like the first half, Dorman started the scoring in the second half. Dorman scored on a loose ball in front of the net with 19:35 remaining. Cummings scored on a Reynolds assist with 5:20 left, while Reynolds finished the scoring near the end of regulation.
Brooklynn Alberts and Abby Stemp combined for 20 saves on 29 shots in-goal for the Vikings. Searsport (2-3) will travel to Guilford for a matchup with PCHS on Saturday afternoon.
Reaghan Patterson made five saves on six Searsport shots in goal for the Tigers. Dexter (2-4) will host Penquis on Friday. Full girls soccer scoreboard.
