Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 231 past athlete of the week winners.
This week, we had nine Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Austin Pelletier had a monster game in leading Messalonskee to a victory over Skowhegan. Pelletier is the sixth student/athlete from Messalonskee high school to earn athlete of the week winners. He joins Sam Dexter (10-6-11), Kristy Bernatchez (10-21-12), Chase Cunningham (3-8-14), Jared Cunningham (3-8-14),and Sophie Holmes (2-19-17).

- Austin Pelletier- Messalonskee- football- rushed for 341 yards and seven touchdowns on 33 carries in 57-42 win over Skowhegan.
Runner up
- Marcus Christopher- Skowhegan- football- threw for 435 yards and five touchdowns on 43-60 passing in 57-42 loss to Messalonskee.
Other nominations
- Drew Hayward- Woodland- soccer- scored five goals and had one assist in 8-1 win over East Grand.
- Matthew Overlock- Mt.View – soccer- had two goals and two assists in 6-2 win over Belfast.
- Nathan Richards- Dexter- soccer- scored four goals in 7-5 win over Bucksport.
- Matt Richards- Dexter – soccer- had a hat trick in 4-0 win over Penquis.
- Zach Doore- PVHS – soccer- scored with two seconds left in 2-1 win over PCHS.
- Colby Lee- MDI – football- the senior running back rushed 21 times for 313 yards and four touchdowns and also intercepted a pass in 43-22 win over Bucksport.
- Gavin Matthieu – Brewer – soccer- had six goals in three games (MCI, Waterville, and Winslow)
