Bryce Gilbert earns second straight McGuire Seasonal Services male athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. This week, we had 11 Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations.Bryce Gilbert averaged 26.7 points in three games this week to earn his second straight athlete of the week honor, and his fourth overall.

McGuire Seasonal Services male athlete of the week

Bryce Gilbert- PCHS- basketball- recorded 32 points, seven rebounds, four steals, three blocks, and two assists in 67-60 loss to Schenck. Scored 26 points in 58-26 win over Stearns. Scored 25 points in 70-52 loss to Orono.

Runner up

Grant Kidon- PVHS- basketball- scored 26 points, including three free throws with no time on the clock in 58-57 win over Penquis. Scored 13 points in 57-45 loss to Dexter.

Other nominations

Zach White- Dexter – basketball- scored 13 points and had four assists in 47-45 win over Foxcroft.

Brayden Miller- Dexter – basketball- recorded 12 points, five rebounds, and three steals in 47-45 win over Foxcroft. Scored 20 points in 55-50 win over Bangor Christian. Scored 15 points in 57-45 win over PVHS.

Justin Thompson – Schenck – basketball – scored 28 points in 75-54 win over Calais. Recorded 24 points. 13 rebounds, seven assists, and three blocks in 67-60 win over PCHS.

Caleb Shaw- Central- basketball-scored 21 points in 56-45 win over John Bapst.

Nate Desisto – Orono- basketball- scored 25 points, including a three pointer that beat the final buzzer in 51-49 win over MDI. Scored 18 points in 70-52 win over PCHS.

Chris King- Schenck – basketball- recorded 22 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals in 67-60 win over PCHS.

Kyle Case- Washington Academy- basketball- scored 22 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter in 74-66 win over Foxcroft. Had 12 points, four assists, and three rebounds in 80-40 win over Sumner.

Jim Lin- Washington Academy- basketball- recorded 16 points (10-11 FT), seven rebounds, and two assists in 72-66 win over Foxcroft.

Drew Dankert- Foxcroft- basketball- scored 24 points, including 7 three pointers in 72-66 loss to Washington Academy.
