BANGOR– The Washington Academy Raiders averaged 72.2 points per game during the regular season, Caribou held the Raiders to 13 first half points, and the Vikings went 21-26 from the free throw line, including 14-16 down the stretch to earn a 51-44 class B north quarterfinal win at the Cross Insurance Center on Friday evening.
The Raiders jumped out to a 7-2 lead. Caribou went on a 9-1 run to take an 11-8 at the end of the first quarter. The Vikings built the lead to 19-13 at the end of the second quarter.
Donovan Savage scored 13 of his team high 18 points in the fourth quarter. Savage went 9-10 from the free throw line down the stretch. Ricky Sheldon recorded 15 points, nine rebounds, and three steals. Gabe Massey scored 10 points and pulled down seven rebounds. Caribou will play a semifinal game on Wednesday, February 17th.
Janko Stojanovic scored 16 of his team high 18 points in the fourth quarter to keep the Raiders in the game. Washington Academy finishes the season with a 16-3 record.
