Chad Perry named McGuire Seasonal Services male athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 210 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had 10 Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Chad Perry from Narraguagus has had four bone cancer treatments this year. That didn’t stop Perry from being in the gym on senior night. Check out the story from WABI.

McGuire Seasonal Services male athlete of the week

Chad Perry- Narraguagus- basketball- Chad has had four bone cancer treatments this winter. He has Osteosarcom. Perry didn’t miss his senior game. Perry came out with his teammates for warmups and gave a rose to his parents during senior night.

Runner up

Bryce Gilbert- PCHS- basketball- recorded 25 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists in 57-51 win over Lee. Recorded 38 points, 19 rebounds, and six assists in 73-43 win over PVHS.

Other nominations

Elijah Ames – Foxcroft- Wrestling-  won the 170-pound title by edging 2016 PVC 152-pound winner Brody Boynton of Bucksport 6-5 in the final.

Jackson Mathers- Southern Aroostook- basketball- scored 22 points (4 three pointers) in 62-47 win over East Grand. Scored 29 points in 97-69 win over Katahdin.

Caleb Shaw- Central- basketball- recorded 17 points, five rebounds, five assists, and four steals in 38-36 win over Dexter. Scored 31 points in 67-57 win over Washington Academy.

Ethan Mailman- Central- basketball- recorded 13 points, eight rebounds, and three blocks in 38-36 win over Dexter.

Zach Hartsgrove- Nokomis- basketball- scored 22 points in 67-59 win over Hampden. Scored 17 points in 70-54 win over Mt. Blue.

Nick Foley- Greenville- basketball- scored 29 points in 59-25 win over PVHS.

Brayden Miller- Dexter- basketball- scored 19 points in 58-31 win over Bucksport.

Kyle Case – Washington Academy- basketball- scored a game high 28 points and had six assists, three steals, and two rebounds in win over Old Town. Recorded 22 points, five assists, three steals, and three rebounds in losss to Central. Case averaged 16.5 points in 18 games and also recorded 32 steals during the regular season.
