Dexter girls basketball rebounds their way to win over Stearns

DEXTER– The Dexter Tigers girls basketball team had four players with at least seven rebounds, as they outrebounded Stearns 41-21 in a class C victory on Wednesday night at Ed Guiski gymnasium.

Skyler Theodore scored the first basket of the game, the Tigers never trailed. Megan Peach scored nine of her game high 18 points in the fourth quarter, as Dexter improved to 7-1 with their 44-29 win.

Peach added eight rebounds and two steals to go along with her 18 points. Peach went 8-15 from the free throw line. Including 5-9 in the fourth quarter. Katie Batron scored 13 points (5-7 FT) and pulled down seven rebounds for the Tigers. Theodore filled up the stat sheet with seven points, nine rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Kayli Cunningham scored four points and pulled down seven rebounds. Abby Webber went 2-2 from the free throw line. Dexter (7-1) will travel to Penobscot Valley high school next Wednesday.

Emma Alley led Stearns with 10 points, four steals, and two assists. Alley made a shot from half court at the end of the third quarter to cut the deficit to 31-21. The Minutemen cut the deficit to 31-23 early in the fourth quarter, Dexter scored the next eight points to take a commanding 39-23 lead.

Peighton Ingersoll added seven points and four rebounds, Jessicca Girsa chipped in with five points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Abigail Russell scored three points and pulled down four rebounds. Mackenzie Carter and Calli Waceken scored two points each. Stearns (4-3) will host Bucksport next Monday.
