Foxcroft girls basketball clinch home prelim game with win over Central

DOVER-FOXCROFT- The Foxcroft Ponies girls basketball team rolled to a 43-25 victory over Central to clinch a home preliminary game in the Maine Principals’ Association class B tournament on Tuesday, February 9th. The Ponies will host the Red Devils for the second straight game in that contest where the winner will earn a trip to the Cross Insurance Center and a quarterfinal game against top seeded Houlton on February 13th at 3:05 p.m.

The Ponies (10-8) jumped out to an 11-4 lead at the end of the first quarter. Ali Bourget scored 10 second quarter points as the Ponies extended the lead to 31-13 after the second quarter.

Both teams scored 12 points in the second half as the Ponies held on to win the regular season finale. Ali Bourget led the Ponies with 12 points, while Madison Chadbourne put in nine points, Abbi Bourget added seven points, while Kendra Ewer and Abi Simpson chipped in with five points each. Grace Bickford (4) and Cailin Seavey (1) rounded out the scoring for Foxcroft.

Sydney Allen, Emma Campbell, and Emily Smith scored six points each to lead the Red Devils, Libby Cook scored five points, while Kaylee Townsend added two points. Central will go into the tournament with a 9-9 record.
