Freshman Lanie Perry is named Roadrunner Taxi female athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 182 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, a total of 12 Rowell’s Garage athlete of the week nominations came in. Lanie Perry from Narraguagus high school pitched a no hitter and a two hitter. The freshman struck out 36 in two games. Perry has helped the Knights start the season with a 7-0 record.

Perry joins Anna Ramsay (2) (1-18-14) and Kelli Kennedy (4) 2-28-16) as student/athletes from Narraguagus high school that have been named athlete of the week.

Sydney Allen from Central high school was the only nomination that came in from track and field. Allen finished as a close runner up.

Lanie Perry- Narraguagus- softball- pitched a no hitter with 17 strikeouts in the circle, plus had three hits, including a homer in 9-0 win over Machias. Pitched a two hitter and struck out 19, while recording two hits and three RBI in 7-1 win over Woodland.

Runner up

Sydney Allen- Central – Track and Field- at a meet in Foxcroft, Sydney got 1st place in both the 200m and 400m sprints, and finished 3rd in the 100m race. At a meet in Old Town, Sydney finished 1st place in the 200m race, and anchored her team to a 2nd place finish in the 4x800m relay.

Sarah Guimond- Winslow- softball- had three hits, including a double, three RBI, and two runs scored in 16-0 win over Morse. recorded three hits, including a double, and two runs scored in 12-3 win over Medomak Valley.

Deanna Phipps- Hermon- softball- had a three run home run and a solo home run in 9-1 win over Old Town. Had two hits in 11-0 win over John Bapst.

Karli Theberge- Hermon- softball- pitched a four hitter with eight strikeouts in 9-1 win over Old Town. Fired a four hitter, striking out 10, plus had two hits and three RBI in 11-0 win over John Bapst.

Kate Saunders- Bucksport- softball- pitched a six hitter and struck out 12 in 3-1 win over Orono.

Erin Speed- PCHS- softball- recorded three hits, three runs scored, and three stolen bases in 13-8 win over Schenck.

Jewel Lamb- PCHS – softball- recorded three hits, three runs scored, three stolen – bases, and retired the last 11 hitters to earn the pitching victory in 13-8 win over Schenck.

Alivia Hunt- PCHS- softball- had three hits, three RBI, and two runs scored in 13-8 win over Schenck.

Courtney Deane- PCHS – softball- had two hits, two RBI, and two runs scored in 13-8 win over Schenck.

Rachel Beckwith- PCHS- softball- had three hits in 13-8 win over Schenck.

Arianna McKinnon- PVHS -softball- Only two hits had six strikeouts with a 10-0 shutout against Bangor Christian, Also only allowed four hits with four strikeouts for the 20-3 win over Searsport.
