July 19, 2017

Hanley Ramirez hit his third career walk-off home run in the bottom of the 15th inning as the Boston Red Sox defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4.

The game started at 8:10 PM due to an hour rain delay at Fenway Park. The game ended at 1:09 AM on Wednesday morning.

The Red Sox have now played 58 innings in the past four days. They lost to the Yankees in 16 innings on Saturday and split a doubleheader with the Yankees on Sunday.

The Red Sox had to come back twice against the Blue Jays.  They scored a run in the sixth and another in the seventh inning to come back from a 3-1 deficit.

The Blue Jays took a 4-3 lead with a run in the top of the 11th inning. The Red Sox tied the score on a Mookie Betts single in the bottom of the 11th inning.

Ramirez ended the long game with a  one out blast in the 15th inning. Hector Velazquez (2-1) pitched four shutout innings of relief to earn the victory.
