Husson baseball sweeps WPI

Mike Wong recorded five hits, while Zach Sugar hit a home run in each game to lift the Husson University Eagles baseball team to a doubleheader sweep over WPI on Wednesday afternoon at Auburndale, Florida.

In the first game, the Eagles overcame a 4-0 deficit to grab a 6-5 walk off win on a Conor Maguire single that scored Wong in the bottom of the seventh inning.

In game two, Husson scored two runs in  the second inning and never trailed in an 8-3 victory.

Wong had three hits and two runs scored in game one. JT Whitten had two hits, while Sugar smashed two hits, including a home run. Brandon Reilly earned the victory with a complete game effort on the mound. Reilly allowed four earned runs on eight hits and one walk, while striking out six.

Wong, Ryan Rebar, and Andrew Curran had two hits each to lead the Eagles game two attack. Sugar had two runs scored and three RBI to go along with his home run. Dan Whitney pitched the complete game allowing only two earned runs on four hits, while striking out six. Husson (2-3) will continue their Florida trip with a game against Montclair State on Thursday afternoon at 4 p.m.
