Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 197 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had 12 Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Jesse Devereaux rushed for 173 yards and three touchdowns to lead Brunswick to a win over Skowhegan. The a Dragons improved to 5-0 on the season. Devereaux Brunswick- football- rushed for 173 yards and three touchdowns on 18 carries in 65-42 win over Skowhegan. Devereaux joins Jared Jensen (9-9-12), and Will Bessey- (3)- (10-3-15) as student/athletes from Brunswick high school to earn athlete of the week honors.

Josh Buker- MCI- football- had three touchdowns on punt returns in win over Houlton.

Other nominations

Colin Beckett – Penquis – soccer- scored three goals and had two assists in 6-3 win over PCHS.

Dereck Thomas – Penquis – soccer- scored two goals in 6-3 win over PCHS.

Hunter Garrett- Brunswick- football- rushed for 155 yards and three touchdowns in 65-42 win over Skowhegan.

Billy Brock- Foxcroft- football- rushed for three touchdowns in 48-0 win over Hermon.

Nick Clawson- Foxcroft- football- rushed for 84 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries.

Josef Guptill-Jonesport-Beals-soccer- had four goals in a 6-4 win over Temple Acacdemy and two goals in a 2-1 win over Highview Christian, to help the Royals improve to 4-4 and currently 11th place in the Class D North standings.

Brayden Miller- Dexter- football- threw four touchdowns and rushed for one in 51-0 win over Ellsworth.

Chandler Rockwell- Foxcroft- soccer- recorded a hat trick, including the game winner in overtime in 5-4 win over Dexter.

Matthew Richards- Dexter- soccer- recorded a hat trick in 5-4 loss to Foxcroft.

Andrew Akles – Belfast- football– went 7-12 passing against old town 120 passing yards and two touchdowns.
