Kennedy sends Narraguagus to regional final

BANGOR- Kelli Kennedy recorded 16 points, 10 steals, and nine rebounds to lead the Narraguagus Knights to a 39-24 victory over Dexter in a class C north semifinal game played Friday afternoon at the Cross Insurance Center.

The Knights took advantage of 35 Dexter turnovers and never trailed. They went on an 8-0 run that extended into the second quarter. Abi Webber scored five second quarter points to help the Tigers cut the deficit to 12-10.  Junior center Megan Peach picked up her third foul for Dexter, Narraguagus took advantage by going on a 7-1 lead to take a 19-11 halftime lead.

Dexter scored the first four points of the second quarter to cut the deficit to 19-15. That is as close as the Tigers would get. Narraguagus scored the next nine points, the Knights lead didn’t go below 11 the rest of the game.

Kylee Joyce put in nine points, while Madison Leighton, Emily Reynolds, and Cassidy Osgood scored four points each, Laine Perry chipped in with two points. Narraguagus (17-2) will play in the class C regional final Friday night at 7 p.m.

Webber scored seven points and pulled down four rebounds to lead the Tigers. Katie Batron scored six points and grabbed six rebounds, while Peach recorded six points, eight rebounds, and three steals. Kayli Cunningham put in three points, Skyler Theodore and Cidney Pratt put in one point each. Dexter finishes the season with a 15-5 record.
