MCI football improves to 4-0 behind three touchdown night from Eli Bussell

LINCOLN- Eli Bussell rushed for three touchdowns to lead the Maine Central Institute (MCI) Huskies to a 42-6 win over Mattanawcook on Friday evening.

The Huskies totaled 272 yards in the first half, while holding the Lynx to 30 yards in the first 24 minutes.

Bussell got the scoring started with a three yard touchdown run with 5:24 remaining in the first quarter.  Josh Buker connected with Bussell on a 45 yard pass play to set up the score.

Buker connected with David Young for a 29 yard touchdown with 7:52 remaining in the first half. Willie Moss converted the two point play to make it 14-0. With 3:06 remaining in the half, Bussell scored on a two yard touchdown run as the Huskies went into the half with a 21-0 lead.

Mattanawcook had the ball first in the second half. A quick turnover gave the Huskies the ball in great position. They took advantage when Adam Bertrand scooted into the end zone from two yards out.

Bussell and Pedro Matos finished off the scoring for the Huskies. Cayden Spencer-Thompson scored the lone touchdown for the Lynx.

Buker threw for 166 yards on 6-9 passing, Bussell totaled 52 yards rushing and 56 receiving, MCI (4-0) will host Houlton next week. Mattanawcook (1-3) will host Orono next week. For the full high school football scoreboard click here.
