PCHS girls soccer 2016 preview

August 30, 2016

The Piscataquis Community high school (PCHS) Pirates girls soccer team has plenty of firepower returning from last season to improve on a 3-11 record and contend for a class C tournament spot. The Pirates will also have sophomore Alivia Hunt as goalkeeper and sophomore Spanish exchange student Sara Almirante De La Cal to help add to the team’s offensive totals.

“In net, after a serious leg injury last season, sophomore Alivia Hunt is an all around athlete who will be one of the best goalies in Eastern Maine,”PCHS coach Joe Gallant said. “Junior midfielder Erin Speed looks to keep up her strong midfield leadership as well as playing some wing and striker. She will be teamed up with sophomore Spanish exchange student Sara Almirante De La Cal who displays incredible dribbling and passing skills.”

Lexi Harris, Hope Adkins, Bailey Lemieux will bring varsity experience to the roster. Gallant will also have plenty of first year players he hopes can contribute this season. The Pirates will have only one senior on their roster.

“On defense, anchored by Junior Lexi Harris, she will command respect from her teammates and expect the best from them game after game, she will also be in on the scoring action. Sophomore Hope Adkins will be called upon to score and assist and play marked defense on the some of our opponents best players. Junior Bailey Lemieux will be featured as a half back who will play an important roll in setting up the front line,”Gallant said. “Incoming freshmen Shanoah Hill, Caroline Goggin, Megan Beckwith, Mya Young will see plenty of time on the field as they already have skills to play at the varsity level. Junior Bailey Lemieux will be featured as a half back who will play an important roll in setting up the front line. Sophomores Brooke Kujawski and Rachel Beckwith will see significant time on defense. Sophomore Rosa Labbe is our sweeper who is one of the fastest players on the field. Loan senior, a transfer from Bangor, Elisabeth Adam will see plenty of action as a defender and possible as a backup goalie. Alex Huff and Lena Downes will be contributing players on defense.”
