Red Sox rally to walk-off over Yankees

July 14, 2017

The Boston Red Sox scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to grab a 5-4 win over the New York Yankees at Fenway Park.

The Red Sox didn’t get the ball out of the infield in the ninth inning. Mookie Betts and Dustin Pedroia started the rally with infield hits. Betts and Pedroia converted a double steal. Xander Bogaerts hit a grounder to second base. Ronald Torreyes bobbled it, while Betts came home to score the tying run.

Hanley Ramirez was walked intentionally. That set up a game winning walk from Andrew Benintendi, Pedroia scored the winning run.

Robby Scott pitched a scoreless ninth inning to pick up his first win of the season and second of his career.

Ramirez had two hits, including a two run homer. Betts, Pedroia, and Bogaerts recorded two hits each.

Drew Pomeranz started the game and allowed four runs on six hits and two walks, while striking out seven in six innings. Matt Barnes pitched two perfect innings of relief.
