Sandy Leon provides dramatics in Red Sox walk-off win in 12th inning

April 5, 2017

Chris Sale was dominant for seven innings and his catcher Sandy Leon blasted a three run walk off home run in the bottom of the 12th inning to give the Boston Red Sox a 3-0 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday night at Fenway Park.

Sale allowed three hits and one walk, while striking out seven. Matt Barnes, Craig Kimbrel, Heath Hembree, Robby Scott, and Joe Kelly (1-0) combined to pitch five scoreless innings of relief.

That set up the dramatics for Leon in the 12th inning. Jackie Bradley JR drew a one out walk in the 12th. Bradley stole second base. Pablo Sandoval worked a walked. Leon drilled one over the green monster to send the Fenway crowd happy. Leon has gone 5-8 through the first two games of the season.
