BANGOR- Justin Thompson and Chris King combined for 45 points to lead the #6 Schenck Wolverines to a 65-46 Class C Northern Maine boys quarterfinal win over #3 Hodgdon on Tuesday morning at the Cross Insurance Center.
King had eight first quarter points as the Wolverines jumped out to a 16-11 lead over the Hawks after eight minutes.
Hodgdon took their first and only lead of the game when they went on a 6-0 run to start the second quarter. Schenck (15-5), followed with a 7-0 run to regain a 23-17 lead, and took a 30-21 into halftime.
The Wolverines extended the lead to as many as 15 in the third quarter at 44-29, and took a 46-34 lead into the final eight minutes of play.
Hodgdon tried to make one more run at Schenck, scoring the first four points of the final quarter to make it 46-38. But the Wolverines pulled away, scoring 19 of the final 27 points of the game.
Thompson finished with 23 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and a steal. King had 22 points and four rebounds. Travis Thompson added seven points, and Riley Dionne also added six.
Hodgdon, who finishes the season at 12-7, they were led by Daden Palmer who had 15 points and five rebounds. Wyatt Foster added seven points, while both Dillon Buzzell and Kevin McAfee had six points a piece.
Schenck advances to the semifinals and will face second seeded Ft. Fairfield (18-1) Friday at 2:05 p.m. The Tigers of Ft. Fairfield ousted PCHS in Tuesdays mornings other quarterfinal.
