The Hermon Hawks girls basketball team is currently on a five game winning streak. The Hawks started that streak with a 50-31 win in Lincoln over Mattanawcook on January 6th. The Lynx and Hawks will go at it again on Thursday, this time in Hermon. Eastern Maine Sports will broadcast the game live starting at approximately 6:50 p.m.
Hermon is currently ninth in the Maine Principals’ Association class B north heal point standings. All games remaining on the Hawks are big heal point worthy games, including a match-up at Washington Academy on Saturday. The Raiders are currently in eighth place in the standings. The teams seeded fifth through eighth will host a preliminary round game on February 9th or 10th.
Mattanawcook is currently on a two game winning streak. The Lynx are currently 12th in the class B north standings. The top 12 teams qualify for a tournament spot. A win over a quality opponent like Hermon would put the Lynx in good position to lock down a tourney spot. Mattanawcook also has heal point worthy games remaining against Central, Presque Isle, and Houlton, plus a game against Orono, who is one spot ahead of them in the current standings.
