BANGOR–The Shead Togers girls basketball team turned up their defense in the fourth quarter and cruised to a 34-22 Maine Principals’ Associatiom class D quarter victory over the Deer Isle-Stonington Mariners at the Cross Insurance Center on Saturday evening.
Holly Preston scored 12 first half points as the Tigers held a 20-16 lead. Allison Eaton scored all five of the Mariners points in the third quarter as the Mariners cut the deficit to 23-21 heading into the fourth quarter.
Preston scored five points in the fourth quarter as the Tigers outscored the Mariners 11-1 in the final eight minutes. Preston finished with a game high 17 points, Cierra Seeley added 10 points. Shead (13-6 will play a semifinal game on Thursday, February 18th.
Eaton led the Mariners with 11 points, Deer Isle-Stonington finishes the season with a record of 8-11.
