BANGOR- Kayla Toppin recorded 18 points, eight rebounds, and four steals to lead the Narraguagus Knights to a 61-50 win over Piscataquis Community High School (PCHS) in a Maine Principals’ Association class C quarterfinal game at the Cross Insurance Center on Tuesday morning.
The Pirates held a 13-12 lead after the first quarter behind five points from Jordynne Littlefield. Narraguagus was the highest scoring team in class C during the regular season. They showed why, as they scored 49 points in the final three quarters.
The Knights held a 29-27 halftime. Narraguagus went on a 14-2 run to take a 46-32 lead late in the third quarter. The Pirates cut the deficit to 46-41 when Bailey Lemieux nailed a three pointer. The Knights held a 49-41 lead at the end of the third quarter.
Toppin and Cassidy Osgood scored five points each in the fourth quarter to secure the victory for the Knights. Osgood scored 10 points and dished our four assists. Kelli Kennedy added nine points, seven rebounds, and four steals. Madison Leighton recorded nine points, six rebounds, and two assists. Narraguagus (16-2) will play in a semifinal game in Friday afternoon.
Littlefield led the Pirates with 17 points and three assists. Delani Bennett added 11 points, eight rebounds, and three blocks. Alivia Hunt chipped in with eight points and four rebounds. PCHS finishes the season with a 13-7 record.
