BANGOR– The Bucksport Bucks boys basketball team went on a 10-2 run to start the third quarter, and an 8-0 to start the fourth quarter, as the Bucks rolled to a 47-28 victory over Dexter in a Maine Principals’ Association class C north quarterfinal game played Wednesday morning at the Cross Inurance Center.
The game was tied at eight after the first quarter, as the Bucks had seven turnovers in the first eight minutes. Kyle Jackson scored six second quarter points to help the Bucks go on a 10-2 run during the quarter, and take a 20-16 halftime lead.
The final 16 minutes belonged to the Bucks. Jackson scored 10 of his game high 16 points to help Bucksport outscore the Tigers 27-12 in the second half.
Riley Macleod controlled the inside game. He pulled down 18 rebounds and blocked three shots to go along with his six points.and two assists. Hayden Craig scored 11 points and pulled down six rebounds. Tyler Pye scored six points, while Tanner Stegner and Austin Mason scored three points each, and Nathan Bussell put in two points. Bucksport (15-4) will play a semifinal game on Friday night.
Brayden Miller led the Tigers with 10 points, seven rebounds, three steals, and two assists. Zach White scored six points and pulled down three rebounds. Jason Campbell and CJ Cooper scored four points each, while Joshua Simcock scored three points and pulled down five rebounds, Nathan Bourdeau put in one free throw. Dexter finishes the season with a 13-7 record.
