BANGOR- Jimmy Buzzell recorded 24 points and nine rebounds to lead the seventh seeded Hodgdon Hawks to a 45-38 victory over second seeded Fort Fairfield in a Maine Principals’ Association class C quarterfinal game played Monday morning at the Cross Insurance Center.
The Hawks scored the final six points of the first half to take a 23-18 lead into halftime. Fort Fairfield went on a 10-1 run at the end of the third quarter to cut the deficit to 33-32.
Landen Kinney gave the Tigers their last lead (35-34) of the game with 4:12 remaining. Hodgdon went on an 8-1 run lead to take a 42-36 lead. Hodgdon went 3-4 from throw line down the stretch to secure the victory.
Buzzell pulled down nine rebounds to go along with his 24 points (10-13 FT). Daden Palmer recorded 11 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocks. Hodgdon (12-8) will take on Bucksport in a semifinal game on Friday evening.
Chris Giberson scored 11 points and pulled down six rebounds for the Tigers. Fort Fairfield finishes the season with a 14-5 record.
