While most of the basketball attention in Maine will be on the high school state championship basketball games in Augusta, Bangor, and Portland this weekend, there will also be championship basketball games being played at Husson University.
The Eagles women’s and men’s basketball teams each finished at the top of the North Atlantic Confernce (NAC) standings. That means both teams will be the host team for the semifinals and finals in the upcoming conference tournament.
Quartefinal action will be on Tuesday, February 23rd on the campus of the higher seeds. Husson and second seed Castleton each earned a bye for the quartrfinal round of the women’s tournament.
Number three seed Maine Maritime will host Colby-Sawyer at 6:30 p.m. and number four seed New England College will host University of Maine at Farmington at 6 p.m. in quartrfinal action.
The semifinal action will be played on Friday, February  26th with Castleton playing the Colby-Sawyer/Maine Maritime winner at 1 p.m. The host team from Husson will play the New England Collegr/UMF winner at 3 p.m. The winners of the semifinal games will play in the conference championship game on Saturday, February 27th at 2 p.m. Women’s bracket
In men’s quarterfinal action it will be third seeded Johnson State hosting sixth seeded Lyndon State at 6 p.m., while fourth seeded Thomas will host fifth seeded Castleton at 5:30 p.m.
When semifinal action begins at Husson on Friday night, it will be the host team playing the Castleton/Thomas winner at 6 p.m. Colby-Sawyer will take on the Johnson State/Lyndon State winner at 8 p.m. The semifinal winners will be for the conference championship on Saturdag afternoon at 4:30.
